Architecture and craftsmanship – the elegant footbridge has been completed. The footbridge connecting the Seminarhotel Sempachersee (SHS) to the Guido Zäch Institute (GZI) is 55 m long and 3.5 m wide. The supporting structure comprises four curved steel elements weighing 13 to 19 tonnes and measuring 12 to 18 m in length each, for a total length of 55 m, which holds up a flat roof structure of insulated wood elements and glazing made with 380 m2 of ‘bird protection’ glass on the sides. An anti-slip floor with underfloor heating make moving between the two buildings comfortable and convenient. The connecting structure is bright, protected against the weather and wheelchair-accessible. It also offers direct access to the new underground car park/lot D.
