Weisser Würfel (White Cube) in Vaduz

|Reference properties

The "Weisser Würfel" construction project is a free-standing extension of the existing Hilti Museum. The museum and new Hilti Art Foundation building are linked together in the basement floors. In addition to the Hilti Art Foundation rooms on the first and fourth floor, the ground and second floors are home to the Huber watch and jewellery company.

  • Round floor glazing, suitable for walking on
  • Skylight glazing
  • Façade glazing with 3-layer insulation glass

The new building consists of a solid concrete construction finished in white, with internal insulation. The flush, integrated narrow strip windows on the ground and second floor have been designed as an all-glass corner construction in each corner of the building. On the ground floor next to Huber, the window façades also have externally mounted sun-protection integrated into the façade section. All window façades on the ground and second floors are fitted with internal glare protection.

On the top level (fourth floor), a slightly inclined glass roof extends over half of the floor area; a horizontal glass roof of the same size, suitable for walking on, is located over the third floor at ceiling height. This accessible glass roof is suspended from the upper glass roof’s steel construction.

For security reasons (break-in prevention), the window façades on the ground floor, made from triple insulating glass, have been designed with a resistance class in accordance with RC 4. The window façades on the second floor, also made from triple insulating glass, have been designed with a resistance class in accordance with RC 3.

In the outer area between the existing building and the new building, a skylight suitable for walking on and with limited weight-bearing capability has been installed in the ground.
