Traditional Just Schweiz building
New construction of the production and office building of JUST Schweiz AG in Walzenhausen. The new building creates a new identity.
Building
The volume is broken up by the varying façade depths, protruding bands, shadows and change in materials. The building has six storeys, with the top three recessed. The lower three floors are home to the spacious production facilities. The upper three floors house the offices, lab and cafeteria.
Façade
The entire façade consists of an aluminium transom-mullion construction. Around the two exterior stairways, the design incorporates fire protection. In the lower three storeys, the glazing is intersected by 2.2 metre high balustrades. These are completely enclosed with enamelled toughened safety glass or aluminium panels. The protruding steel structures clad with Alucobond panels are particularly striking. The façade of the rear of the building is clad in ML sheets.
Logistics and assembly
The hillside location and narrow access road required painstaking coordination of deliveries. We transported the large transom-mullion elements using a lowbed trailer with special permission. The assembly period lasted from November 2014 to October 2015.
